What kind of shoes are used for flamenco?
Flamenco dance shoes are specially constructed to receive the impact from footwork, to have traction on the floor and to create sound. They have very sturdy, thick heels, a thin rubber half sole that is glued to the shoe for traction and tiny nails at the tip of the sole and covering the bottom of the heels for sound. Women’s shoes look very much like a round toe, high heel pump with a heel that is typically 2 to 3 1/2 inches in height. They also have a strap or laces to secure the shoe to the foot.
