What kind of sampling features may affect the variance estimates of NHANES data?
NHANES has a complex, multistage, probability cluster design, which would require the statistical analysis to take into account these sample design features. Specifically, attributes of the complex sample design such as differential weighting, clustering and stratification will all have various impact on variance estimates, estimated standard errors, and thereby test statistics and confidence intervals.
