What kind of rat is best for an 11 year old?
Well… A) A younger one. About 6-8 weeks old. That way, he/she grows up with the child and they have them longer! BUT, it will be a little skittish at first. If your 11 year-old is mature, she/he can teach it to love them by gently holding/stroking/giving it a treat. They’re also very quick. B) An older one. About 8 weeks to a year old. These are older rats, sometimes they’re more handled (depends where you’re getting them). Not quite as fast, easier to hold, but not quite as easy to tame if they’re not socialized. Good things are: they’re faster to bond (sometimes), and usually have been held a good bit, so they know how it goes. Pet Store: Cheap rats, may have a nice selection…There’s a chance though you could get a pregnant female, or a non-social rat. Be sure to hold/cuddle/walk around with the rat before buying it. Breeder: A little more expensive, but not TOO much more. If they’re a good breeder, the rats will be sweet and used to human contact. Again, be sure to hold/cuddle/w
