What kind of Public menorah lighting is planned for Coolidge Corner?
A 9-foot menorah will shine 20 feet above the corner of Beacon and Pleasant streets, beginning with a public lighting ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 13, 4-5 p.m. The menorah will be displayed above Vision Eyeglasses, and will be lit each evening at sunset for the eight days of Hanukkah. “Hanukkah celebrates the triumph of light over darkness,” said Rabbi Mayshe Schwartz of the Chai Center in a statement. The Chai Center is organizing the menorah lighting. “In these troubled times, when people are facing all sorts of adversity, the menorah stands as the symbol of hope and light over darkness.
