What kind of public affairs projects have fellows completed?
The Kiplinger Program defines public affairs broadly as policies or issues that affect citizens. Thus, public affairs projects can cover a wide range of topics, including such issues as deregulation, school funding, bio-terrorism, or the impact of health care regulations on the uninsured. As a fellow, you will have flexibility not only in choosing your topic but also in deciding what kind of project you want to complete during the 24-week program. You may opt to focus on your project and produce an in-depth, multipart online series that you take back to your news organization. Or you may prefer to produce a smaller project, while spending more time taking classes and learning new skills.
