What kind of Professional Development does the ESL/Immersion Department provide?
Section 5 ELD: ESL teachers and general education teachers participate in a training presented by certified ELD presenters. This is aligned to the Oregon ELPA standards. Sheltered Instruction, literacy, and content areas: Classroom teachers, paraprofessionals and ESL teachers participate in training, facilitated by qualified presenters, to assist them in employing strategies and methods to effectively deliver grade level content to ELLs. Curriculum Materials Trainings: ESL teachers and paraprofessionals receive initial and ongoing trainings in how to use currently adopted K-12 ELD instructional materials as well as materials for English language arts.
