What kind of money management does APS offer?
APS does not accept a case because a client has financial difficulty budgeting. If a client has other protective needs, and managing their income will prevent eviction or financial exploitation, the social worker can apply to the Social Security Administration to become the clients Representative Payee for Social Security and/or Supplemental Social Security (SSI). This does not enable APS to make contractual arrangements or pay on back bills or take on other legal roles better handled by a Power of Attorney or a Conservatorship of Estate. APS can refer clients to other resources which may be able to handle bill paying, debt counseling, etc.
