What kind of mileage does a Pontiac Fiero get with a V8 in it?
I have a 1987 Fiero with a 5-speed. I’m considering putting a Cadillac North Star engine in it, but if that drops me down below 20 mpg in mixed driving, I think I’ll pass. Anybody who has done this know about what it gets? A: Ok, don’t listen to don r. He doesn’t know much about cars, and even less about the Fiero. The Northstar will easily get 25 in a full size Caddy on the highway, and close to 20 in town. In the Fiero, you have more than a 1000lb weight advantage than the Caddy, plus you have a manual transmission. Both of those will contribute to better mpg. You could easily get 20 around town with that combination. The biggest issue you will have with mpg is keeping your foot off the fun pedal. That motor will make the Fiero a quick little car. And to correct don r’s statement, the 4 cylinder Fieros had the fire issue, and it was limited to the 84 models. The Fiero caught a lot of bad press from the very few that caught fire. The fire was actually caused by owner neglect, not cool
