what kind of KPIs should be measured?
This was selected as Best Answer KPI’s should be aligned with business strategy, measuring short-term performance for aspects of the business that are of strategic performance. Just as important as measuring the right things is measuring them at the right level. Dashboards should be designed for specific users / classes of users, presenting information that the user has the ability to change or influence the outcome. If the KPI’s are not actionable then they are likely irrelevant. For example, when someone sees an indicator that is “red” or “yellow” (using a stop light metaphor, which is fairly common), they need to understand what that means and what they can do to get things back in the “green.” The link below is to a white paper that I wrote a year or so ago about business intelligence (BI).
