What kind of jobs can one apply for in the funeral industry, clerical, housekeeping, or even unskilled?
My best advice would be to just pick up the phone and call the funeral home directly. Express your interest in the industry to them and tell them this has been a dream of yours for a long time. Ask when it would be a convenient time for you to stop by and arrange to speak with the owner or director. Beforehand, do some more research on the profession and have your questions ready. You can also inquire about possibly doing tasks around the home such as washing cars, cleaning, running errands. This is how a lot of people got their foot in the door. Also see if they will hire you as an apprentice. I know a few funeral homes will help you pay for mortuary school, contingent on your working for them once you graduate. I’m sure if your are passionate enough, they will be more than willing to help get you started.
