What kind of information is on the RFID tag?
Inside the RFID tag is an inlay made up of a chip and antennae, known as transponder. The chip stores the precise EPC-number. This number only makes sense when it corresponds to the dealer’s database. In future it will be possible to store further important information on the chip, to enable the dealer to optimize his logistical processes. Additionally, one can envision that globally standard care instructions could be stored on the chips and textile RFID-tags. In combination with intelligent washing machines that can read these chips, it should be possible to optimize washing processes, to thereby spare the environment and avoid handling errors. All of this data would be product data. In the future, the EPCglobal-Logo will be printed on all RFID tags of the fashionGroup RFID members. The logo informs the consumer that the producer of the goods is an EPCglobal member and subject to their RFID rules and regulations concerning the use of RFID.
