A A new 960×1080 (1 MegaPixel) CCD is used with “wide” pixels the same shape as the output. Most camcorders use CCD with “square” pixels which FORCES the processor to interpolate these input CCD pixels to realize the wide pixels which must be output for HDV and 16:9 DV. And of course, there are 3 CCDs in the FX1, each one “seeing” the same scene but looking for different colors (Red, Green, and Blue = the primary colors of light).
