Ksenia is not exactly defensive, but rather has had a difficulty replying to the ignorant statements that you have made. I mean no offense to you by pointing out to the ignorance of your statements as I understand that your views are largerly formed and influenced by what you see on TV and read in newspapers. First, Putin did not eliminate any candidate from the race. Putin has been immensely popular in Russia and it is no wonder that whoever he picked would have the best chances in the presidential election. While it is true that there was no second runner who could compete with the Putin’s endorsee it was not because Putin would not let that person run, but because such a person simply does not exist in the contemporary Russian politics. Second, Kasparov is a truly great chess player, but when it comes to anything other then chess he every time proves to be completely out of touch with the reality. He is kind of like Bobby Fischer was. I do not exaggerate. In fact, it makes me truly
The Government WE choose. I don’t see any reason why we should have a government that the USA would like, not Russia. As to the Kasparov – he has double citezenship – Russian/American – I believe, he has no ethical right to be elected. Firstly he has to abandon the USA citezenship. Don’t worry about us we can cope with our problems, worry about yourselves – or don’t you have issues? P.S. I’m pretty sure that someone will mention “the terrible KGB”…
While on paper Russia is a democracy , powerful /wealthy /connected Russians have used the powers of office to in fact compromise their democracy for their own purposes both overtly and covertly. HOWEVER. Many who look at the US with it’s profound corrupt quid pro quo corruption between the PLUTOCRACY of Congress and the wealthy/powerful individuals and corporations in Washington begin to realize that the US democracy is as compromized as is the Russian democracy and if not as badly compromized as the Russian system certainly compromized . Russians look at at the US Supreme Court appointing the US President and they rightly call Americans hypocrites for at least Russian votes COUNT un-like all US Presidential votes Americans simply do not have the power or right to elect their President ; only the Electoral College has that authority and they have twice denied the candidate with the majority of votes from becoming President/leader of the country. And you have the gall to point a finger
