You can use the special scrapbooking glue or an acid-free glue.

Glue dots from Michaels or JoAnns. Metal embellishments should use a cement glue. Specify a little more if you still have this issue.

I agree with all the responses so far. Make sure that anything you use is acid-free though! However, if your embellishments are metal, use metal glue (found at all scrapbook and craft stores). Also if you are gluing down ribbons, a tape-runner or ribbon glue work wonders!
