What kind of gift do I bring to an engagement party?
I love to celebrate my friends and family’s exciting events such as an engagement. There is never an obligation to bring a gift, but I have found that items such as a beautiful glass candle are always appreciated. As a matter of fact, even this nominal engagement gift sends the message that you are happy and excited for the couple. The “answers” received so far are very scroug-like.
Etiquette on this is to take a small gift, ie, candle, picture frame, etc. Some couples are registering prior to the engagement party. You can find out where they are registered and look for a small gift on their registery. What many people don’t seem to understand is that an engagement party, a bridal shower and a wedding are all separate events each with a gift attached, esp. the shower and wedding. One of my incarnations has been working with a wedding etiquette expert.
