What kind of gear is required for Scouts?
• BSA Shirt (either short or long-sleeved) • 857 numerals • Red shoulder loops (epaulets) • Dan Beard Council Patch • Neckerchief (supplied by the Troop when you make Tenderfoot) • Neckerchief Slide • Boy Scout Handbook BSA pants/shorts, belt, socks, hat, etc. are welcomed but not required. You’ll also eventually need the following items: • Mess Kit • Water Bottle or canteen • Sleeping Bag (appropriate for the weather) • Tent • Backpack • Flashlight A word from the Scoutmaster: Don’t rush out and buy expensive equipment! Spend some time talking to more experienced Scouts and adult leaders, then choose your purchases carefully. It’s wise to spend as little as possible at the beginning, until you get a feel for what type of equipment will work best for you. Your fellow Scouts and adult leaders will give you great advice on what to get and where best to find it. You may find the following items useful on a few of the campouts.
