The biggest problem from this is that people tend to get parasites from walking barefoot in unsanitary places or conditions. I don’t think they have any more orthopedic problems from going barefoot than do shod people, however. There’s always the example of the barefoot Kenyan and Ethiopian marathon runners. On the con side, people in these conditions don’t tend to live very long anyway, so I would imagine there are relatively few examples of how living barefoot affects the bones/joints/muscles of the foot over a 70-90 year lifespan.
