Freshmen take the GE 100 course, which is also known as the First Year Institute. Its goal is to help first year students get acclimated to college life, learn important study and critical thinking skills, and develop healthy relationships. New for academic year 2008-2009 will be a commuter assistant program. This mentoring program will match upperclassmen/experienced commuters with new commuter students. The purpose is to help the new commuting student develop friendships and learn how to make the most of their commuting experience, and to help them connect with the campus community. Interested commuters should contact the Office of Commuter Student Services for more information.
