What kind of financial responsibility is involved with being in a fraternity?
-Fraternities do cost money. If your organization has a facility and you are living there, you will be paying for room and board (i.e. rent, food, and utilities), just like in the residence halls. In addition, all groups have dues that pay for dances, socials, philanthropy and service events, etc. Outside of those costs there might be other optional costs such as t-shirts, dinners out with brothers, etc. Iowa is fortunate to have an office that manages the budgets of all of our chapters. With that, we are allowed to use the University Billing System to charge chapter dues to the U-Bill system. This will allow for students to use any scholarships or grants that you might receive to pay for your Fraternity life expenses.
