If you are in Canada, HRDC (Human Resouorce Development Canada) offers a variety of excellant programs for those who are curently receiving some kind of unemployment benefit. Again, within Canada, you are eligible for maternity benefits as a part of the Employment Insurance Program. Check out local local Children and Family Services office as well. Frequently they will offer programs to provide some kind of training r aid to help you get throught the rough patches. Another good source is your local YWCA. Here in Vancouver, the local “Y” offers a program to “intern” folks with positions in the federal governement. It does not pay great but it does give you excellant training and can often provide you with the “foot in the door that you might need.
