What kind of filtration for RES?

unfortunately I had to get rid of my 4 RES but what I found to be efficient was to feed my turtles outside of the tank that way once they ate i can just throw away the water. this kept my tank clean longer and it didn’t clog my filters. Also I alway bought a larger filter than the gallons in my tank. So if it was a 50 gallon tank I purchased a heavy duty filter for a 100 gallon tank. I also built a basking ridge for them and attached it to the tank so even if the tank was full of water there was a semi submerged ledge they could hang out in. This way they could be completely out of the water if they chose to…leaving them permanently in water without an escape route results in respiratory infections and death.
