What kind of experience do candidates typically have?
Many candidates have experience of working in finance positions in countries that opened up internationally in the 1990s, such as the countries of the former Soviet Union, the countries of Eastern and Central Europe, China, Vietnam and the Balkan States. Other candidates have had more conventional expatriate positions such as accountants from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa working in Europe and UK accountants working in the Middle East. Some candidates may not have directly relevant overseas experience but may have done other things to show appropriate skills and interests, such as running their own business or being active in cross-cultural activities in their home country.
