What kind of expenses can be reimbursed under a health care FSA?

0

A. Generally, a health care FSA may reimburse only medical expenses that are deductible under Internal Revenue Code section 213. Among others, these include acupuncture, alcoholism and drug abuse treatment, chiropractic service, orthodontics, dental expenses, hearing aids and batteries, body scans, and most importantly, medical services and supplies not covered by the employer’s health plan. These can include co-pays, pre-existing conditions, out-of-network charges, prescription medicine, over-the-counter drugs, psychiatric care, psychoanalysis, psychologist’s fees, physical exams, transportation costs to and from medical care, eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, saline solution and enzyme cleaner for contact lenses, lasik surgery, prescription vitamins, and x-ray fees.
