What kind of exercise is easiest on my joints?

Swimming is the exercise that is easiest on the joints. If you don’t have access to a pool, you can always walk, just be sure to get good shoes to help absorb the impact. Using the eliptical machine at the gym is also less impact than walking, but it involves either buying a machine for your home, or joining a gym. Overall, I think swimming is the best choice, because it is a whole-body workout, its good cardio, and its easy on the joints. Other than just swimming laps, you can also sign up for classes in the pool – like aquatic aerobics, underwater running (sounds funny, but they have a class for this at our local Junior College!), and others… that way you have some instruction and variety in exercise during your time in the pool.
