What kind of education reform did Ayers & Obama have in mind?
I wasn’t aware that Ayers and Obama had their own organization dedicated to education reform. Or are you referring to their work on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge? If so, since board members do not technically work in a vacuum, you’d have to also ask about what the foundation and the board had in mind. The simple (and simplistic) answer is that the purpose of the foundation was to make changes to the educational framework in order improve schools and student outcomes, rates of achievement gain, classroom behavior, student self-efficacy, and social competence. Education Week said of the project that the group’s work “reflected mainstream thinking” among school reformers. If you wanted to know what Ayers and Obama had “in mind” it would probably be best to sound out the founder and other board members of CAC, which by the way was always bipartisan.
