Bison are very disease resistant, but can be affected, species specifically, by any pathogens that are common to the sub-family of bovinae that they share with cattle and the West African Bongo. Where as bison are a completely different genus and species from cattle, all disease issues common to cattle, are not necessarily common to bison.
