Glass is the best cookware to use, you get more even cooking. With our newer microwaves though, you will notice that you can use metal utensils that are specifically designed for the microwave. You are also safe with the metal shelf that comes w/ the microwave. Plastic is also OK in a microwave provided that it is microwave safe. Plastic that isn’t microwave safe risks melting and contaminating your food. It’s always the best to check the container. Styrofoam is one of those things that should never be used in a microwave.
