What kind of compensation and/or assistance will be provided to affected households within the Samrong estate?

0

A. For households in the Samrong estate, the following additional entitlements will apply as per agreed Resettlement Plan: Table 3: Additional Entitlement Matrix Types of Households Entitlements Households losing agricultural land Cash compensation of $2.75 per square meter. This rate was the prevailing market rate of land in the Samrong estate before the February 2005 ban. Households living in the Project site who derive their livelihood from the land Cash assistance of $9.75 per m² in addition to the above-mentioned $2.75 per m². This will enable these households to purchase replacement land at current prices within the Samrong area. This assistance is necessary since the compensation the households will receive for productive land ($2.75/m², as above) is not sufficient for them to find replacement agricultural land in the area at current market prices. Households that purchased land after the February 2005 ban will not be entitled to this enhanced livelihood-related cash assistance.
