What kind of cars use solar cells as a power source?
Cars that use solar cells as a power source are commonly called “solar cars,” “solar energy cars” or “solar-powered cars.” The first completely solar-powered car was built in 1984 by Greg Johanson and Joel Davidson. While a fully solar-powered car is not yet available to consumers, many solar car races—such as the World Solar Challenge, North American Solar Challenge and the South African Solar Challenge—use solar cars that are custom built for racing.
