What kind of breads can be eaten? Are Crackers okay?
There is a brand of bread being carried in most grocery stores called Healthy Life, they claim to be low carb. I personally don’t eat it because their idea of low carb is still too high for my carb level. One slice is listed as 8 grams of carbohyrate with 3 of that going to fiber. This leaves a Net Atkins Carb or Effective Carb Count of 5 carbs a slice. On an induction level of 20 grams or less a day I would not want to blow a quarter of my allotment on one slice of bread. That said, you CAN bake low carb bread mixes which you can purchase online from www.lifeservices.com and other online stores in either the oven or a breadmaker. These can be sliced very thin and are high in fiber, thus yielding only a few carbs a slice. IF you have the carbs to spare or are past the induction phase into maintenance, then these low carb bread mixes are definitely a good option. The only drawback in them is their cost. They are not as cheap as their high carb counterparts. As for Crackers, same deal. M
