What kind of birds eat butterflies?
Butterflies are eaten by a wide variety of different birds – although most learn to avoid certain species (like Monarchs) which are foul tasting due to chemical compounds that they contain. Birds that specialise in catching large insects on the wing will regularly take butterflies (flycatchers, shrikes, some falcons etc), and other birds will readily take them if they find them resting, especially during cold or wet spells when butterflies are unable to fly so are caught more easily (sparrows and similar birds may take butterflies found at rest).
