I have had Molly, my Egyptian Mau for almost four years now, and she is the best cat I have ever had. I did a lot of research before I bought her because this was the first time I was going to be spending a fairly large sum of money on a cat and wanted to know what I was getting. I found that the Mau breed is fairly new to the United States, having been introduced here in the 1950’s by a Russian Princess. They still are relatively rare as far as other breeds go, but it was the spotted coat and those wonderful green eyes that sucked me in. So far, the breeders have been very careful when breeding, and the breed has remained fairly true to its origins The Mau is a very smart cat. Molly will greet me at the door when I come home, as long as the dogs are not around. She knows when I am anywhere near her catnip, and recognizes the word, as well.
