Dagon LP: Making ocean-themed metal Dagon is one of a handful of metal bands to keep that “old school” metal sound while also staying aware of the changing tides of musical trends. While the Lansing-based group’s harrowing style builds upon classic metallers such as Iron Maiden and Slayer, the band also has a tuneful sense of melody, and that keeps the music fresh and edgy. Simply put, it’s real metal. And there’s nothing wussy or poppy about it. The history of Dagon goes back about 10 years, when the guys played in local bands Summer Dying and Bestiary.
