What jobs did ancient Egyptian workers have?
Most ancient Egyptians would have been peasant farmers, growing the crops that formed the basis of the Egyptian diet, and tending the cattle. Farms would be passed down in families. Many people worked as servants, and women were often employed in noble households as musicians and dancers. The next level of society would consist of skilled workmen and artisans, like builders, carpenters, potters,metalworkers, weavers etc. Weaving was a job that was done by both men and women. Women would do the spinning of flax that would be woven into the linen that clothing was made from. Women often worked as wigmakers. The middle class consisted of the scribes and civil servants who formed a large group in ancient Egypt. There were also many priests and priestesses who served in the numerous temples of ancient Egypt.
