What jobs are available in Computer Science?
Name it. Any job. Go ahead. Computer Science is one of the rare disciplines that trains you for a staggering array of possibilities. You can be an engineer working on a Mars rover, an architect, a crime scene investigator, a computational biologist, a banker, a high school teacher, a video game designer, a social worker, a geophysicist, a web designer, or a .com-style millionaire. Think we exaggerate? Nope. Our faculty personally know computer scientists that have (or have had) these jobs. Heck, you can be a ukulele-toting, spandex-wearing, grunge rock singer. Yup. Ask Regis computer science grad Patrick O’Fallon. His band just released their first album (though in fairness to Pat, I never saw him in spandex, and he plays the drums in a metal band). In fact, studies show that there are strong connections between the arts and the computational/mathematical sciences. By the way, various magazines like Time and Money publish lists of “best jobs”. Software engineering usually makes the top
