What job duties are suitable for telecommuting?
Tasks which can be performed with little interaction with other staff or customers are likely to weigh positively in your supervisor’s decision. Examples of these types of tasks include reading, creating, updating and reviewing documents, reading and replying to email, attending conference calls, etc. Tasks which require your physical presence at the workplace are likely to decrease your eligibility or limit the frequency of telecommuting. Examples might include fixing computers and other IT equipment, presenting formally, serving customers (face to face), etc. Your supervisor will make the final determination if any of your job duties are suitable for telecommuting.
