What job can I do involving Body Language reading?
In my master’s program and my doctorate program (each at different universities), everyone thought that SEM was totally useless in therapy. They also thought it was kind of a ridiculous joke and a waste of time for things like lie detecting. Maybe it serves some symbolic purpose…, but I doubt you’ll find much support in academia. It’s probably most useful for traditions and rituals, as display rules can be important to things like business negotiations. As such, it could be useful on a cultural level in whatever field you enter into. Also, someone who doesn’t know any better might look at it as a bonus, in hiring. Judging people by the way they look or their mannerisms simply isn’t reliable, though. An untrained person performs just as well as a trained person in reading body language. It’s usually only training in interpreting vocal cues that lends any support. Even this only makes a very mild difference. Because if you look at things from the framed perspective, what happens on the
