What Items Cannot be collected?
We cannot collect some types of bulky rubbish as they may cause injury to our collection staff, costly damage to the compaction unit of the collection vehicle, or harm to the environment. The following items cannot be collected: • Glass panes, doors or other items with glass/mirrored panels – unless the glass is securely covered with cardboard and taped up to prevent breakage • Cast iron baths • Gas bottles/canisters • Railway sleepers/tree stumps • Building rubble or bricks or ceramic tiles • Solid metal objects • Car batteries/tyres • Bags containing soil or bricks • Containers with fluid inside e.g. paint tins • Wood – unless specified e.g. 4 fence panels or four bundles (these need to be easily lifted by one collection operative) will count as 4 items • Green Garden Waste • Hazardous or special waste e.g.

Due to the hazardous nature and the restriction in law of landfilling some materials, plus the health and safety aspects of collecting some items, for example manual handling, restrictive area for movement, we are unable to collect any of the following items through this service: • Asbestos • Builder s rubble and materials, • Car engines, • Central heating boiler, • Glass and shards of glass, • Chemicals • Liquids of any type, eg paints, varnishes, oils (fuels required to power any items must be removed before collection) • Motorcycles • Tyres, • Tree stumps.
