We do employee engagement surveys at our agency and it really helps us determine what we can do to continually improve retention rates. Some of the issues we focus on are keeping employees challenged, building cohesive teams with people of various skill levels, offering extensive professional development opportunities, developing mentoring relationships and competitive compensation. When employees don’t feel challenged, supported or compensated fairly, they tend to look for another environment. Focusing on improving only one area doesn’t work – agencies must gather feedback regularly, make improvements and communicate those back to employees.
