What is your opinion on Yamaha Piano vs the price?
You might be surprised to learn that Yamaha makes no upright pianos in Japan anymore. The U series uprights are now built in China and Taiwan — and I have just learned that the Taiwan factory will be shut down. In fact, the only pianos Yamaha will make in Japan will be their top-tier grands — the supposedly hand-crafted ones. If you MUST buy Yamaha (and there are many other brands in the price range that are as good or better IMHO than Yamaha) then stick with the U-series uprights. But do yourself a favor and check out the Kawai k3 or k5 models while you are searching — or the Boston UP118s or 118E models. The Chinese-built Essex EUP123 (48″) is also an outstanding value.
