What is your opinion on teaching Creationism in public schools as an alternative theory to evolution?
This has been a constant battle that has been going on since the theory of evolution itself was established. Evolution is a scientific theory. It is accepted by the scientific community. Scientific theories are based on fact and they are constantly subject to revision through new discoveries. New discoveries in paleontology and microbiology consistantly confirm the correctness of the theory of evolution. Little, if any, makes sense in the biological sciences without the theory of evolution. That’s why it’s being taught in biology class in school. However, creationists feel that their belief system is being threatened by the theory of evolution. Among many reasons, they feel that the idea that humans descended from the same ancestral species as other animals violates their perspective on what we are.
