What is your opinion of the religious programme – songs of praise?

It annoys me that the BBC have the licence to do religious broadcasting, and yet they waste it on this programme, which is religious drivel, most of the time. I have given up watching it, because it’s more to do with the Church of England presenting cheesy pseudo-religion ‘from a town near you’ and nothing to do with real faith. I find it a real turn-off, because it does nothing to recommend true Christianity to anyone – quite the reverse. The Christianity I know is virile, down-to-earth, demanding and strong – this sort of pap gets me so annoyed at the flagrant misreprsentation going on. This programme is more fit to kill off Christianity, rather than encourage it. The only good thing is the old hymns, but even that gets spoiled by the voyeurism of too close scrutiny of people’s faces. And then, there’s the professional singers – ugh! For goodness’ sake, let’s have BELIEVERS singing! Yes, the way they present Songs of Praise does Christianity no favours. The subliminal message is, it’

It’s way too old fashioned and only appeals to the over 65s. I doubt it will be on much longer as the new head of religious programming is a Muslim and I’m sure he’ll want to broadcast something promoting Islam and all the hate that brings with it.
