What is your opinion of the China partnership that Medaille College just agreed to?
It interests me for a few reasons. It interests me because I’m curious to know why we are over there. Financially, the way they pitched it, it sounds like it can make us some money. Personally, I would like to see the school stay more inside the United States, but I guess in the western New York area, the population of college-bound students is decreasing. Sometimes I worry that the administration has trouble handling our own students at the moment, but we are going to bring in a group of foreign students that are going to have a lot of issues dealing with cultural and language barriers and different things. So it is going to be another curve ball in the game. I hope that they step back and see it from the students’ perspective, not from their own perspective. I’m nervous about the endeavor and I hope they involve more students on the decision side of it.
