Snowflakes 2 1/2 cups sifted flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup butter 1 – 3 oz. package of cream cheese 1 cup sugar 1 egg yolk, unbeaten 1 teaspoon vanilla (We don’t add it, but the recipe also calls for a tiny bit of grated orange rind) and Red & green sugar for decorating • Grease cookies sheets (or use parchment paper). • Sift flour, salt and cinnamon into a bowl. • In another larger bowl, cream butter & cream cheese until soft. Add sugar gradually, creaming well after each addition until well blended. • Beat in egg yolk & vanilla. • Add sifted dry ingredients, a little at a time, & blend well. • Pack dough into cookie press using any desired design-forming plate (we use the snowflake or the tree); press dough onto prepared cookie sheets; decorate with red or green sugar. • Bake in 350 degree oven 15-18 minutes, or until edges are light brown. • Run spatula under cooki

In large mixer bowl combine sugar, butter, egg, salt, and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture is light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add flour. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed, 2 to 3 minutes. Place dough in cookie press. Form desired shapes 1 inch apart on cookie sheets. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. You can also color dough with food coloring, and decorate with dragées and colored sugar.
