What is yEnc and is it acceptable here?
A. It is a new form of encoding much like the uuEncoding and Base64 generally in use now. At present yEnc is not supported by all usenet software and therefore you as a poster may not be able to reach the widest possible audience. For this reason we discourage but do not prohibit its use at present. The discussion of yEnc, we feel, serves no real purpose here and it’s discussion here is in principle off-topic. If you wish further information there are groups devoted to such technical discussion.
