Yasmin, also known as drospirenone, is an effective birth control pill. In fact, it has been found to be 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Despite its effectiveness, it has also been linked to serious side effects. Yasmin works by preventing sperm from fertilizing an egg, and the egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus. It comes in a 24/4-pill dosage, which means that the first 24 pills are active with synthetic progestin hormones and the other 4 pills are placebos. It has been proven effective when taken at the same time every day, within 2 hours of the set time.
