What Is XP Pro OEM?
Microsoft’s XP operating system is offered in three versions, XP Home, XP Professional and XP Media Center. XP Home is a scaled down version that lacks several features which are included in XP Professional. XP Media Center was the last to be released package and came with many (predominately multimedia) features that XP Professional and XP Home did not include. Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM, software packages are provided by Microsoft to large quantity manufacturers (like Dell) at a reduced cost. Under a typical OEM agreement, the software is provided with no factory support and all warranty issues are expected to be handled by the OEM.
