What is XM Satellite Radios new basic monthly subscription rate and when does it go into effect?
XM is expanding its basic service to include more than 150 channels of programming, including Opie & Anthony and 16 channels of Major League Baseball, plus the Internet service XM Radio Online, all for $12.95 a month, as of April 2, 2005. The price change will not affect current subscribers until their current payment plan ends. In addition, consumers have the opportunity until April 2 to lock in the original rate of $9.99 per month for up to one year, or lock in lower multi-year rates for additional savings, The price change does not affect the XM Family Plan; XM subscribers will continue to be able to get up to four additional subscriptions for $6.99 per radio per month.
