What is XBRL GL?
XBRL GL, XBRLs Global Ledger Framework, is the use of XBRL taxonomies to model the information found in ERP systems. XBRL GL is a single, global, holistic way to support the collection of business information from business event through end reporting. It can represent the information found in a typical general ledger system globally; it can represent the information that flows in from sub-ledgers, such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Payroll, Fixed Assets and Order Entry; it can represent the setup files, master files, transaction files and status files you would find in any of those modules. It is modular, today having recommended modules to represent most of the information found in back-room ERP systems; additional modules can be created to meet specific jurisdictional and industry requirements, which should be added in light of the XBRL GL Philosophy.
