What is WSS, Wave Sample Synthesis?
A synthesizer is an electronic musical instrument capable of generating, modifying, and combining a wide range of sounds using digital instructions. The two most-used methods for generating sound are Frequency Modulation (FM) synthesis and Wave Sample Synthesis. FM synthesis mimics musical instruments by mathematical manipulation of simple sine waves. Rather than manipulate sine waves, Wave Sample Synthesis uses high-quality, digitally recorded samples as a basis for creating sounds. The result is an overall sound, which is much richer and more realistic than that of FM synthesis.
